The health app Oviva Direkt has been designated as a digital health application (DiGA) in Germany. According to an article in Frontiers, a publisher of peer-reviewed articles, the app developed by Oviva, a healthcare company based in Altendorf in the canton of Schwyz, was chosen from a selection of 731 mobile apps. The selection process was divided into two stages. In the first stage, 690 applications were ruled out because they did not meet the selection criteria, with the apps Oviva Direkt and zanadio subsequently emerging as top performers in the second stage.

The Oviva Direkt health app is used to prevent and treat obesity. Through the app, users have access to nutritional advice, a physical training plan, a control system with a calorie counter and other health treatment applications. The app also allows users to contact medical facilities and doctors with experience in treating obesity. ce/ww
