Altendorf – The digital health company Oviva supports more than 500,000 patients across Europe in managing conditions such as obesity and diabetes. With this therapy support, important progress has been achieved in the treatment of these common diseases.

Oviva, the digital health company based in Altendorf in the canton of Schwyz, has reached the milestone of its 500,000th patient using its therapy-support app for obesity and diabetes. As detailed in a press release, users of the app with obesity were able to lose more than 5 percent of their body weight within six months, while patients suffering from type 2 diabetes were able to reduce their long-term sugar level HbA1c by 6.8 mmol/mol over a period of three months. The value indicates the glycation of hemoglobin in millimoles of sugar to moles of hemoglobin. In healthy people this value stands in a corridor between 20 mmol/mol and 42 mmol/mol, with values in excess of 58 mmol/mol indicative of diabetes that will require treatment.

As the press release states, over half of the population of Europe suffers from obesity and the health consequences associated with this condition. With its digital app, Oviva aims to empower patients to consciously follow and carry out their treatment plans.

“The fact that over 500,000 people in Europe rely on Oviva to help them achieve their health goals is further proof of the effectiveness of our product”, comments Kai Eberhardt, CEO and co-founder of Oviva, in the press release. “We are proud of our role in improving patient care with our technology-enabled solutions”. ce/ww
