Altendorf – Oviva, which provides personalized nutrition consulting supported by an app, has analyzed anonymous data and discovered that people in the cantons of Ticino and Valais lost the most weight. BMI scores are highest in the canton of Schaffhausen, while Graubünden residents recorded the highest number of steps.
A large-scale analysis carried out by Oviva from Altendorf in the canton of Schwyz of anonymized data relating to more than 5,000 patients has revealed that the weight-loss success varies greatly from canton to canton. According to a press release, over a period of three months, people in the cantons of Ticino and Valais managed to lose the most weight, with the cantons of Bern, Neuchâtel and St.Gallen following close behind.
The data also shows that Schaffhausen residents have, on average, the highest BMI score at 37, while people in Ticino had the lowest value. With an average of 455,773 steps across the three-month period, Graubünden residents lead the way for this metric. Patients from Aargau racked up the most meters covered, while the amount of physical exercise undertaken by people in the canton of Bern was particularly high.
Oviva highlights the fact that, for some time already, Switzerland has been piling on the pounds: With around 42 percent of the adult population deemed to be overweight, and 11 percent of these designated as clinically obese, this is certainly a widespread condition. Oviva helps people to lose weight with a combination of personalized consulting and an app.
Oviva’s aim here is to inspire continuity among its users: “We support people in the long term and motivate them to stick with the program”, as Monika Schmid, Senior Nutritionist at Oviva, explains in the press release. The healthtech company works directly with statutory health insurance companies in Switzerland, Germany, the UK and France. ce/mm
